the intermittent incredibly annoying high-pitched cheep of the smoke detector as its battery runs down sounds like a demented sparrow who can only cheep once every 30 seconds
Reminds me of the time we had stored some gifts in our first basement...one was a smoke detector that had a battery put in by the giver...it only beeped once every half hour...until we finally found it!
