Inside the mind of a writer...

My motto for 2012: Quality, not quantity

I am currently exploring the sensation of Sound...

Reflections - 26

The sky lifts its under-belly of clouds and I can breathe again.

Reflections - 25

Mist closes in again; hiding the expanse of the sky, concealing the wide horizon, bearing down on me, smothering.

Reflections - 24

The relief of an unclouded sky and far horizons; now the mist has gone I can breathe deeply again and stand tall, revelling in the gentle Spring breeze.

Reflections - 23

An old lady smiled at me today; a beautiful, tooth-stained smile that lit up her eyes and made my heart expand with joy and warmth.

Reflections - 22

Finding the right kind of routine; not legalistic so I feel bad when I don't get things done but not lazy so that I don't produce anything. Rather, a liberty to write and be creative in balance with all the other things that have to be done.

Reflections - 21

Stillness, as the machine shuts down. Reveals; the ticking clock, the uneasy sound of central heating and the whir of the drier downstairs.

Reflections - 20

I don't need to grasp what I think I want; the things I need will be there at the right time.

Saturday, 19 February 2011

Reflections - 19

Stilling my busy mind; learning to be, not to do. We are human beings after all, not human doings.

Reflections - 18

Letting it go; releasing the worries that grip me, setting free my desires for the future.

Reflections - 17

Focusing on one thing at a time; multi-tasking is over-rated and stressful.

Reflections - 16

De-cluttering my life; what is important? What do I really want to do? Feeling free, lighter, focused.

Reflections - 15

Frustration flares; annoyance at the stupidity of others when it is SO clear to me!

Reflections - 14

Lovingly created; jam roly-poly pudding, crisped and sizzling in the oven.

Sunday, 13 February 2011

Reflections - 13

I know my place; a fool at the feet of kings.

Reflections - 12

The mildness of Spring; gentle rain, scents of crushed grass, slippery mud beneath my boots.

Saturday, 12 February 2011

Reflections - 11

An invasion of visions; ideas simmering, stirring, erupting.

Reflections - 10

Watching myself dance; like seeing a stranger perform movements intimately connected to me.

Wednesday, 9 February 2011

Reflections - 9

The tick-tock sound of yeast expanding as I take the bowl of dough from the airing cupboard. Reassuring, comforting.

Tuesday, 8 February 2011

Reflections - 8

Speaking French; the words slide off my tongue like a sweet liquid.

Monday, 7 February 2011

Reflections - 7

Peace of mind leads to clear focus; the pathway is being revealed beneath the debris of confusion.

Reflections - 6

Harmonised thinking;  ideas sparking off each other like steel on a knife blade.

Saturday, 5 February 2011

Reflections - 5

Relief of emotions expressed; not driving a wedge between us, but opening our souls, drawing us closer.

Reflections - 4

Living with dread; the stomach shrinking, stew simmering heat shrivels my soul.

Reflections - 3

Uncertainty like a blank curtain, muffles everything.

Wednesday, 2 February 2011

Reflections - 2

The regular, rolling rhythm of chopping carrots bio-dynamically; creating many-faceted shapes.

Reflections - 1

Words like ships under full canvas leap from my tongue, creating realities from my imagination.

Reflections

Inspired by Fiona & Kaspa's River of Stones in January, I am going to try and write something for my blog every day. Although I may not be able to post every day, I plan to keep a record of everything I write and post when I can.

So for the month of February I am going to record my reflections...
